Our birth locations are the comfort of your own home or the convenience of our Natural Birth Center, with the option of water births at either location. | |
Pregnancy Midwifery Services include - Consultation regarding home and birth center births
- Pregnancy testing
- Complete physical exam and assessments, including
- Personal & family history
- Information about and access to available prenatal testing
- Screening of high-risk or complicated pregnancies to determine need for consultation, transfer of care, or co-management with a physician
- Prenatal visits, generally lasting one hour
- Once a month until 28 weeks of pregnancy
- Every two weeks through 36 weeks
- Once a week until the birth
- Home visit at 36 weeks, if planning a home birth
- Partners are encouraged to be present; other family members are welcome
Labor & Birth Midwifery Services include - Labor coaching, examinations, and monitoring
- Complete delivery attendance
- Newborn screening, including a physical and neurological examination of the newborn
Postpartum Midwifery Services include - Immediate postpartum care after birth
- Postpartum visits
- In your home at 24-26 hours
- In your home at 3-5 days, and as needed
During our prenatal and postpartum visits, as well as any necessary phone consultations, we offer the time to address questions on a number of topics, which we will discuss openly and honestly with you. - Nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle issues
- Normal physical and emotional changes
- Diagnostic procedures and medical interventions
- Preparation for labor and birth
- Abnormalities, complications, and emergency measures
- Infant care and breastfeeding
- Postpartum adjustment and parenting
- Fertility awareness and family planning
